The Unternehmensgruppe Theo Müller is Germany’s largest privately-owned dairy business with operations in many other European countries as well as Israel. In 2008 our Group workforce of over 4,500 employees generated sales of about 2.3 billion euro. In Great Britain Müller has held the market leading position in the yoghurt sector since 1995 with its brand Müller Corner.
Our strong brands
Subsidiaries with strong, autonomous brands like Müller, Weihenstephan, Sachsenmilch and Käserei Loose belong to the group. Retail brands and basic dairy products such as butter, UHT-milk, lactose powder and whey protein complement the portfolio.
Besides the milk processing subsidiaries, the Müller Group also comprises the Optipack GmbH packaging company, the company’s own logistics enterprise Culina, as well as Fahrzeugtechnik Aretsried GmbH and Müller Naturfarm, one of the largest fruit processing companies in Germany.
Successful across Europe
Our awareness and perception of different consumer preferences and tastes are essential for our success throughout Europe. With our specific products we cater to national needs and wishes – an approach that is reflected by our success. With our market entry in Israel in February 2008, Müller products ventured beyond the borders of Europe for the first time. All of the products launched on the Israeli markets are produced according to the stringent super-kosher rules. Since March 2008, a number of Müller products have been available on the markets in the Czech Republic, and named and labeled in Czech language versions accordingly. Following the launch of the brand in the Czech Republic Müller entered the Polish market at the start of 2009.
In addition to the German locations Aretsried, Leppersdorf and Freising we have also been producing in Great Britain since 1987 (Market Drayton, England). In Italy, the Netherlands, the Czech Republic, Romania and Poland the Group has been active with sales and distribution branches. Furthermore the Unternehmensgruppe Theo Müller has a 76% holding in the Czech dairy Mlékárna Pragolaktos headquartered in Prague.
We make milk modern
With our facility in Leppersdorf, Saxony, we are operating Europe’s most modern diary. Since 2009, more than EUR 400 million have been committed to the largest investment project of the Müller Group.
In 2007 we also invested an additional EUR 22 million for the construction of a bio-ethanol facility at the Leppersdorf location. The first of its kind worldwide, the facility converts molasses, a residual product of whey, into an annual 10 million liters of environmentally friendly fuel additive.
