In 1971, Theo Müller took over the dairy in Aretsried, Bavaria, founded by his grandfather in 1896, from his father - at that time with only four employees. Today, in the dairy segment, the holding company is managing the business of subsidiaries in Continental Europe and Great Britain with their own strong brands: Müller, Weihenstephan, Sachsenmilch and Käserei Loose. Private label brands and commodities, such as butter, UHT milk, lactose powder and whey protein, complete the portfolio. In addition to the milk-processing subsidiaries, the packaging company Optipack, the company’s own logistics firm Culina and Müller Naturfarm, one of the largest fruit-processing companies in Europe, are also part of the Group.
Activities in the field of convenience food also come under the umbrella of the Group. The product range thus also includes well-known brands in the fish & deli, sauces and dressings segment.
CULINA Group is the market leader in refrigerated and ambient logistics services for the British food and beverage industry. In Germany, CULINA Germany and EMHAGE complement the logistics portfolio.
Under the management of Marcus Almeling and Michael Singer the companies generate annual revenues of around €7.0 billion (2021) and employ around 31,700 people.
