The Müller Group with approx. 1.6 billion kilograms annually (without Great Britain) is by far the biggest private milk processor in Germany.
After the collapse of Südmilk, Müller took over the dairy in Leppersdorf and made it into the biggest facility of its kind in Europe: 1.23 billion kilos of raw milk are processed there, and concentrated milk, buttermilk, and cream are bought in addition. The capacity at the head company in Aretsried will be extended from almost 200 million kilos to 320 million kilos. The Weihenstephan Dairy works at full capacity with 220 million kilos. The fourth location is the fermented-milk Cheese Makers Loose with an annual production of 13,000 tonnes. Müller makes its own fruit sauces, 80,000 tonnes a year.
“So we can guarantee to use original recipes,” explains Theo Müller, “others don’t.”
